Trump Reveals If He’s Lost Any Confidence in Pete Hegseth

Date:

Townhall previously covered how the Pentagon’s acting inspector general announced that his agency would investigate Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. This investigation centered around the fact that he allegedly took part in a group chat on the app called Signal to discuss plans to bomb Houthi rebels in Yemen. This is the high-profile group chat where a journalist from The Atlantic was supposedly added by mistake.

The Acting Inspector General Steven A. Stebbins sent a letter to Hegseth informing him of the probe.

“The objective of this evaluation is to determine the extent to which the Secretary of Defense and other DoD personnel complied with DoD policies and procedures for the use of a commercial messaging application for official business,” the letter read. “Additionally, we will review compliance with classification and records retention requirements.”

This week, President Donald Trump was questioned if he has lost any confidence in Hegseth after this.

“He’s a very good defense secretary,” the president told ABC News’ Terry Moran.

“I don’t have 100 percent confidence in anything, okay? Anything. Do I have a hundred percent? It’s a stupid question,” Trump added, shutting down the question. “Only a liar would say I have a 100 percent confidence.”

“I don’t have a 100% confidence that we’re gonna finish this interview,” Trump stated.
