Joy Behar Says If A Dying Friend Supports Trump, She ‘Won’t Give Them A Kidney’

Date:

Joy Behar said on Thursday that while she wouldn’t cut all ties with friends if she found out that they had supported or voted for President Donald Trump, she also would not feel inclined to go out of her way to help them in a time of need.

Behar said during Thursday’s broadcast of “The View” on ABC News that she would not “give them a kidney” if she learned that a friend who’d supported Trump was in need of one — and then she explained that she’d refuse to do so because the friend had made a poor moral choice.

WATCH:

“I won’t give them a kidney but I could be friends with them,” Behar began. “I mean, the question — the thing about it, it’s not just about politics, it’s about morality, ethics, it’s about cruelty, it’s about discrimination. It’s about a lot of things. So, those are personal human values.”

“We’re not really just talking about fiscal conservative who pays more taxes, we’re talking about you as a human being,” she said. “So it’s hard to be friends with someone who signs on to something like that.”

Sunny Hostin agreed with Behar, saying, “Yeah, I agree with that because I think, you know, we’re in abnormal times. This is not the Republican Party of yesterday. I think it’s the Trumplican party in many respects. It’s so extreme. And if someone is supporting or voting for someone who is hurting members of my family, members of my community, our elderly, our children, gutting our government, firing people; I do have a hard time being friends with that person.”

Cohost Sara Haines reflected on her own life, growing up in the midwest, where she said “it’s very common to know people that vote differently. I went from Midwest conservative life to super liberal east coast life.”

The consensus around the table was that the people who supported Trump must only do so because they get information from the wrong sources.
