Doug Emhoff’s Law Firm Bends the Knee to Trump Admin In Shocking Move

Date:

In a bold move, President Donald Trump announced that he struck a deal with the prestigious law firm that hired former second gentleman Doug Emhoff, signaling a significant shift in the power dynamics between the Trump administration and elite legal establishments. This agreement marks the latest victory in Trump’s ongoing campaign to challenge left-leaning, high-profile law firms that have long been aligned with liberal causes.

Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP has bowed to the Trump administration, sealing a high-stakes deal to provide at least $100 million in pro bono legal services aligned with Trump’s priorities. The agreement includes support for veterans, law enforcement, and conservative causes that the nation’s top legal institutions have long neglected. The firm, which brought Emhoff on in January, also agreed not to participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) hiring practices.

“We reached an agreement with President Trump and his Administration on matters of great importance to our Firm.” Willkie’s Chairman, Thomas Cerabino, said. He stated that the agreement reflects the law firm’s longstanding commitment to legal access and its employment practices. “The Firm looks forward to having a constructive relationship with the Trump Administration and remains committed to serving the needs of our clients, our employees, and the communities of which we are a part.”

Trump praised the law firm’s cooperation after the administration warned that it was next on the list for an executive order.

“Willkie’s pro bono Committee will ensure that new pro bono matters are consistent with these objectives and that pro bono activities represent the full political spectrum, including Conservative ideals,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The Trump White House praised the law firm’s commitment to ending the “weaponization of the justice system.”

“Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP proactively reached out to President Trump and his Administration,” the White House said in a statement. “The President is delivering on his promises of eradicating Partisan Lawfare in America and restoring Liberty and Justice FOR ALL.”

The law firm employed one of the lead investigators from the congressional committee that examined the January 6 Capitol protests. Additionally, it represented Georgia election workers in a defamation lawsuit against former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, resulting in a $148 million judgment against him in favor of the women.

In addition, the firm has committed to providing legal representation to politically marginalized clients, including Trump officials, regardless of their political views.
